‘Circularity Thinking in Accelerating Climate Change’

Iskandar Malaysia spearheaded low carbon development in Malaysia by being the first region to adopt and implement its Low Carbon Society Blueprint for Iskandar Malaysia 2025 back in November 2012. After only 10 years, the region received global recognition as it was included in the 2022 CDP A List Cities for its leadership in climate change efforts.
From 8 to 10 August 2023, Iskandar Malaysia will be hosting the ‘Iskandar Malaysia Sustainability Summit (IMSS) 2023’ with the theme ‘Empowering Sustainability with Partners’. This will be the platform for 400 professionals, practitioners, corporate and community leaders, and academicians to have dialogues and discussions on practical climate ideas for collective actions which include sustainable financing, climate mitigation and adaptation, low carbon city and society.
The summit, which will be organized in Johor Bahru, is under the umbrella of the Malaysia SDG programme by the Ministry of Economy which aims to increase public awareness and understanding about the implementation and achievement of the SDGs in Malaysia, especially at the state and local levels.

‘Circularity Thinking in Accelerating Climate Change’
The session will highlight examples of a circular economy currently being implemented by the participating business players. Sharing of best practices, challenges and gaps to be addressed will provide the audience with an overview of the potential for innovative actions in handling byproducts through resource sharing and creating diversity and multi-values of the supply chain in specific sectors.
